FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What materials do you use?
I work using the highest grade coloured pencil, Caran d’Ache Luminance and Faber-Castell Polychromos, on hot pressed Fabriano Artisco cotton paper. Their combined lightfast and archive qualities ensure an enduring longevity over decades of your portrait.
Through application and patience, the precision and time I dedicate to each hand drawn piece results in photo realism from a classic drawing style. The process of building up layers to recreate texture and depth through delicately placed pencil strokes goes to ensure each portrait captures that unique heart and essence of your pet.
Your portrait will be presented mounted and with its back board, with the artist’s individually signed & stamped Certificate of Authenticity. Unframed, to leave you free to choose your preferred choice and style of frame with a professional framer of your choice.
Do you provide the frame with your portrait?
How long will the Portrait take to complete?
My a portrait drawings generally take 2 - 3 weeks to complete on starting on receipt of your deposit. If you have any specific deadline date in mind, please let me know when booking.
What photographs do you need?
I usually work from one favourite photograph, although any accompanying photo would be helpful for additional detail. Photos you supply should ideally be clear and of high resolution. Taken at eye level - a good quality headshot is ideal - photos taken in natural light preferably outdoors are best to work from. I need to be able to see your pet’s eyes clearly in order to best capture their essence and character. The better the photograph, the better the drawing.
Email your chosen photographs to me. If you do not have photographs readily available, I can photograph your pet for you; free of charge on a round trip of less than 25 miles in South Norfolk.
How do I pay for my Portrait?
A £25 deposit secures and books your portrait, to be made 7 days prior to starting your portrait. This deposit becomes non-refundable once your portrait has been started. The remaining balance is to be paid within 14 days of completion, before your portrait is sent.
When your portrait is completed, I will send you a photograph of the finished piece. Once you are happy, the remaining payment can be made.
How much will it cost to deliver my Portrait?
A charge of £10 is applied to cover the costs of packaging and for the Tracked delivery. If you are local to South Norfolk, I can offer to deliver your portrait in person. If I’m unable to deliver, your portrait will be shipped by Tracked delivery.
Will you help me with a Memorial Pet Portrait?
Yes. I am sensitive to the loss of furry friends no longer with us; I can work with you from heritage photographs for that legacy portrait of your loyal companion, so special to those who have been so much of a presence and importance. If the time is right, please let me know what I can do for you.
